last post of this adventure..

so this is whats happened this past 12hrs.
1. tel aviv airport security like me wayyyyyy to much! they questioned 4 times, took me to the back room for metal detecting and questions and escorted me to the ticket counter and to the terminal...it was a wierd experience.
2. german border control just dosent give a crap! i walked up ready to tell them why im here how long the whole nine and all he does is look at me scan my passport stamp it and send me through. no questions what so ever.
3.germany is cold as hell.
4.lufthansa is so far the crapiest airline ive been on so far.

so that was my past little while and as i sit here in a hotel room in germany with german edition of friends playing in the backround im just thinking of this whole experience. and i come away from it truly humbled. i came to israel fully expecting it to be easy as cake im in and out no sweat. but that was not the case it was easily the hardest thing mentally ive done so far these 22 years. ive learned so much about me,who i am and who i can become, what i can tolerate mentally, how deep my faith goes and how much stronger it has become since visiting jerusalem, bethlehem and nazareth. just the people ive meet and got to talk to and hang out with was a privelage.its a truly mind opening experience with the day to day life and the language barrier, fending for myself, and just survivng that i will look back on and smile about in these next few years.while it was no glacier bay national park by far it still was good for me and im humbled getting to experience it and bring what i saw and did back to the us.israel is not the dangerous as hell place everybody thought it was including me.you can pretty much walk anywhere you want at anytime and have no worry about mugging or anything really. the only time i felt somewhat in trouble was when i was in sderot and in nazareth(the alleys there are the perfect place to get stabbed).so that my thoughts on these past 2 months not alot but what i have is i think enough said about it. well thats it for me its 11pm here in frankfurt and i gotta be up at 9 for the airport. this is my last post until i visit the flannel wearer herself kat in december then ill post about that adventure. untill then jason gibson signing off.

soccer matches, jerusalem, drinking and the last 12hrs......

hey guys so its my last 12hrs in tel aviv, israel. im thinking on it right now and it has gone bye like half quick and half slow as hell but all in all im glad i cam. i wanted to leave and hated it sooo much my first month here but after that it slowly grew on me and i got in my stride. just a little bit about my past few days, alot of cool people came to the hostel and this was a rare time where alot of people come at the same time and stay for the same exact days. so for the past like 4 days weve all hungout together and drank. like a couple days ago the first time i got drunk here we all went on in a few bottles of vodka and just hung out most of time at the hostel..me and this girl naddia(from venezuala) freestyle rapped and then all of em left to the club and i stayed behind at the hostel. now i was heavily buzzed and decided to make lost and found signs and put them at every place in the hostel ur eyes would want to look..at the time i thought it was a good idea. me and mia also went to jerusalem for the day. it was pretty cool we saw a friend unexpectadly and i got into the most epic bartering match in human history. i wanted to buy two items and the guys asked 860 sheckels for it. 10 min later i had hime down to 260 sheckel and he accpeted 220. so needless to say i was proud of myself. after that i was all bartered out and we left. i alos yesterday went to a local irish pub(i kno didnt think they had those in tel aviv) and me and a couple of friends watched the manchester united v newcastle united game on tv. it was a cool time..but i was one out of 6 newcastle fans there, the other 30+ were united fans and let me tell you the were chugging guiness and were straight from the uk.. and it was a really good game when united scored there was a roar of applause and when newcastle scored the 6 of us clapped, very loudly i may add. the game had a few controversial calls from the reff wich is fine to me since they benefite newcastle and in the end it was 1-1 tie. all though within the last 15 seconds man-u scored only to have it called offsides and the game end a tie so there was almost a riot but it was fun as hell. thats really all thats happened here,im excited to go back to the cali and see all my fam(yeah jesse, jess, ray, ina, dustin, danielson, lala, chelle, kameron, ben, jeffie,jp and others from the b.u.c im lookin at you) and hang out and drink and just relax from all this time traveling...that is untill i leave in late december and visit my fav kansasinian(kansas person)and flannel wareer kat franchino. other than that i leave at 4pm out of tel aviv and well be in germany by 8pm. so ill have my last blog post of this adventure posted from frankfurt, other than that thats it....from tel aviv, israel at florentine hostel for the last time in the middle east this is jason g singing off.

9 days left

tel aviv night skyline from old jaffa.

it amazes me how this looks like california and yet its sounthern israel.

this is the fauzi azar inn hostel courtyard.

hey so its 9 days till i leave for california and its been an experience.im sitting in the hostel right now listening to the monsoon weather outside and these past few days have been crazy and fast at the same time. im looking for a replacent for me and another volunteer before we go. were 4 volunteers and in a matter of a few days thell be only one. so im looking for new hires. as well as setting up a page for the hostel and there new products there selling. i was in sderot but got the times mixed up with the guy and was there only for a little bit. from there its ust working and trying to expell the rumors this place has bedbugs.just trying to make sure this place dosent go to shit in my last while here and finalizing my flight stuff also, like my 16hr layover in germany i have on my way back. thats gonna suck alot. well other than tha nothings really been going on ill update in a day or so..just counting down now......

nazareth and shit.....

the enterance into the bascillica.

the main area where services go down.

the artwork behind the main area.

the site of the annunciation is right in front of the people.

sup cholas...well here i am last night in nazareth. its been a good and bad day. i got to see bascillica of the annunciation which was epic..alot newer than i thought(built in the 60's). but it was still a site to see. when you walk in throught the gates all aroung you is artwork. apperatnly the story is when it was bieng built the builders asked any country whod like to participate to give the church a piece of artwork depecting the virgin mary and the angel gabriel. so theres artwork from me raza paraguay to vietnam to the vatican and italy and so on. its a sight to see. thanks to my tour guide joe he pointed out all the things to me which i wouldnt have gotten bymyself. after that i went to st. peters church and saw some ruins under neath it. then to the white mosque and the synagouge church where jesus preached. it was a cool day the hostel too is pretty awesome. it was built out of a arab mansion. no joke theres a couryard withfountain and stairs and shit. its pretty cool.but i also got a migrane which i didnt want or expect so also my ass was saved by the staff here at the fauzi azar inn. and now its 11:16pm here and i leave for sderot in the morning. if you dont know that place it is a town that is 1km away from gaza strip.im pretty excitied for that also.thats gonna be an experience. well thats it for me. gotta run. ill update when i get to sderot..peace out family.

p.s. big L rest in peace

bethlehem(palastine)...

so im here in bethlehem..have been for a few hours. and its aight...not at all how i thought it was gonna be. i started the day with my walking plans falling through so i took a bus(shiftiest palastinian bus ride ive ever taken). i asked the bus driver you go to manger square..hes like ya ya i do come in..so i did.now in israel if your going into palastine(dont quote me this is from experience and hearing from others) you either have to walk in or take a bus that has arabic and painted in brigh blue its very intresting(pretty much like the short yellow bus kinda feel) and i tried hard to forget the hebrew i learned over this past month so i dint piss anyone off over here. after a 30 min ride he didnt take me to manger square.. he took me lots of km from it..and i had to take a taxi to the hostel. hostel nice its cold but cozy. i spent my first few hours here sitting on the chair watching monster inc. with the people who work here and sipping tea it was fun plus i have my own room and aything. food and stuff is hella cheap..its awesome..i got a soda, pastry and 3 eggs for 7 sheckel...7 SHECKEL its epic tel aviv that would have been 30 easy. tommorow i have my full day to walk around and see the sights(which arent that many) and get all my bethlehem in on one day. then i leave for nazareth for 2 days. then sderot. well thats it..gotta go.

in jerusalem..

so its my second night in jerusalem(10:45pm) to be exact. and its been pretty cool. meet awesome people last night (joe) and had some drinks and shots at a local bar here in town. it was awesome. and today it was good and bad. i got to go to 95% of the holy sites i wanted to..i stood in line for a little bit and got to actually touch calvary!!(site where jesus was crucified) then to top it off i got to enter the tomb of jesus and touch his tomb i also gotta touch the rock at the chapel of the scension that jesus stood on when ascending in to heaven!! it was pretty epic. i also got to go to the chapel of the ascension(where jesus ascended into heaven)bascillica of agony, the garden of gesthame, the tomb of the virgin mary, the room of the last supper, and king davids tomb, and see jerusalem from the mt of olives. plus a place or two i might have missed. the pics above are the first is the view from the mt of olives, then calvary, and a mosaic above the stone of annointing(which i gotta touch also). but that bead is i thought i was paying 200 nis for a tour but the son of a bitch robbed(not actually robbed) me for 700 nis. that sucked massively but the way i see it its a learning experience and itll never happen again. so now i have one for day and night in jerusalem then im off to bethlehem to see the church of the nativity and such then nazareth for the bascillica of the annunciation then sderot which has no biblical importance its just 1 km awasy from gaza stipr so i had to go there. well thats about it for me..itunes just finished downloading the walking dead and new girl and im so excited about it i could pee..i haven see any of these and itll be awesome.. ill update in a few days or so and im gonna add all the photos to my facebook page soon so look put for those other than that...peace out hoes!!

wierd ass crap..

so im officially 3 weeks and 3 days in my volunteership ay florentine hostel and the past few days have been a roller coaster of events and emotions. first i pretty much have become the handyman for the hostel and have done repair work on the wall(see pic) im already fantastic ant plastering and sanding and well be trying my hand at painting here soon. i get 22 sheckels a hour for my work so thats somethin. but theres never more than an hour or so a day for work but might as well get what i can. today also i was on shift it was night and all the sudden noam runs in the back room where me and rebbeca(new volunteer) were and says "the building across the street is on fire"(see pic) so we run out therr and its on fire i mean its going good. 10 min later after thinking if we should call the fire trucks or not they show up and get it under control in a matter of 15 minutes. so there was a little excitment. me and a friend also went to carmel market and on our way we saw a guy dressed as a frod on a stool in a bucket singing(see pic) and a lady who looks creeped out and confused. i also have almost finalised my mini travel plans herr to jerusalem and the like. my plan is to go to jerusalem for a few days then walk to bethlehem and be there for a day or so then a good friend of mine has aranged for me to go into a palastinian refugee camp and talk to her friend and have a tour of the whole area. then i hope to go ashkelon and get close to gaza and get a photo(hopefully i wont get arrested for spting like my boss said could happen) then come back here. im also thinking about leaving a month early. i have a possible job i cali and were gonna have a total of 3 volunteers here by the beggining of the month so im not sure of what i should do. thoughts? anywho other than being taught the guitar from a iphone app and a denmark man named jake its going alright over herr...thats it for know...for california, usa, from tel aviv israel this is jason louis gibson signing off....

shabbat and shennanigans.....

sup bitches.. so im now 17 days into my stay here and its been intresting over these past few days. to start out with i meet jack from australia and brett from south africa. its been a pretty cool few days. me and the guys and a few others decided to take a pilgramage to the t shirt market that was here for only three days...turns out we puched deep into the city center of tel aviv brett got us lost we walk like 4hrs at least over 8 kilometers all to find out the tshirt market was nothing more than a couple of stall selling shirts for 100 sheckels each and a very rude rasta who wouldnt sell us hash. after that not only did we get pizza at the best place in israel gussipess but we found a bottle of some alchohol that was 96% alcohol (pic above) and we called it a day. the day after rasmus came up wtith the idea to have a shabbat dinner for the whole hostel so me rasmus nathan and brett went to the carmel market for supplies. i handled all the grill cooking and made my own gibson original marindae (pic above) and he did the rest. we had wine and beer and the like and what started out to be only 6 people snow balled into 14 (pic above). and i came up the fantastiv idea after talking to rasmus to plan a brief trip to kurdikstan(north iraq). im gonna absolutly do it and go to jerusalem too. other than that its aight over here. this place is true to the experession take one day at a time. i have 43 more ays till im only a plane back to the usa. well thats all thats really gone down here in the past few days so ill post again in a few....keep ya updated....

YOM KIPPUR!!

so its the morning of the 8 th over here and yom kippur is in full effect. me and 5 other guys from the hostel went out last night walking around talkin pics of the buildings

and the road just amazed that no cars what so ever where on the road. we walked for about a hour and a half and only saw 5 cars 3 of which were police. the pics above are one of the buildings i photographed and one of the roads we were walking on. and the other one is just random grafiti in hebrew with a portrait of hitler that i couldnt not take a photo of. were gonna hopefully go out today in a few hours and walk around in the day time which will be trippy. other than that its been cool over here in florentine. i keep meeting awesome people but there all for for at most 4 or 5 days so its hard to get to know em at all before they leave. works slow and booring but easy and i have a decent amount of responsobility so its cool. im almost 2 weeks in it and am counting the days till i leave. i mean i wanna go but i know i gotta stay cause i wont get anything like this in cali and i dont wanna have wasted all that man power and money so im here for till the biter end. well thats it for now ill kep ya updated...

5 days in it.

so here i am 5 days into my volunteership at florentine hostle. i gotta say though its alot harder mentally than i ever thought. i thought i was gonna show up and be no prob but its like alaska yet so different in so many ways. it sucks but just like alaska i gotta man up the first week or two is always the hardest and in true to that i can already tell its getting better but enough about that.ive meet fantastic people also there all really cool and im only 5 days in who knows who ill meet in 2 weeks. i got video the other day of the muslim call to prayer that is recited from the local mosque. i hear it about 4 times a day give or take and each and every time im mesmerized by it. i ll try to post the video. ive done a little bit so far but since im just getting comffy and its 100,000,000 degrees celcius that kinda hinders your exploring. i hopt to be going to jordan and egypt within the 2 months but that stuff takes money and who know if ill be able to bakroll that alos. plus israeli drivers are some of the most impatient people ever...its semi dangerous. well thats it for now ill try to post more pics. peace....
