wierd ass crap..

so im officially 3 weeks and 3 days in my volunteership ay florentine hostel and the past few days have been a roller coaster of events and emotions. first i pretty much have become the handyman for the hostel and have done repair work on the wall(see pic) im already fantastic ant plastering and sanding and well be trying my hand at painting here soon. i get 22 sheckels a hour for my work so thats somethin. but theres never more than an hour or so a day for work but might as well get what i can. today also i was on shift it was night and all the sudden noam runs in the back room where me and rebbeca(new volunteer) were and says "the building across the street is on fire"(see pic) so we run out therr and its on fire i mean its going good. 10 min later after thinking if we should call the fire trucks or not they show up and get it under control in a matter of 15 minutes. so there was a little excitment. me and a friend also went to carmel market and on our way we saw a guy dressed as a frod on a stool in a bucket singing(see pic) and a lady who looks creeped out and confused. i also have almost finalised my mini travel plans herr to jerusalem and the like. my plan is to go to jerusalem for a few days then walk to bethlehem and be there for a day or so then a good friend of mine has aranged for me to go into a palastinian refugee camp and talk to her friend and have a tour of the whole area. then i hope to go ashkelon and get close to gaza and get a photo(hopefully i wont get arrested for spting like my boss said could happen) then come back here. im also thinking about leaving a month early. i have a possible job i cali and were gonna have a total of 3 volunteers here by the beggining of the month so im not sure of what i should do. thoughts? anywho other than being taught the guitar from a iphone app and a denmark man named jake its going alright over herr...thats it for know...for california, usa, from tel aviv israel this is jason louis gibson signing off....

shabbat and shennanigans.....

sup bitches.. so im now 17 days into my stay here and its been intresting over these past few days. to start out with i meet jack from australia and brett from south africa. its been a pretty cool few days. me and the guys and a few others decided to take a pilgramage to the t shirt market that was here for only three days...turns out we puched deep into the city center of tel aviv brett got us lost we walk like 4hrs at least over 8 kilometers all to find out the tshirt market was nothing more than a couple of stall selling shirts for 100 sheckels each and a very rude rasta who wouldnt sell us hash. after that not only did we get pizza at the best place in israel gussipess but we found a bottle of some alchohol that was 96% alcohol (pic above) and we called it a day. the day after rasmus came up wtith the idea to have a shabbat dinner for the whole hostel so me rasmus nathan and brett went to the carmel market for supplies. i handled all the grill cooking and made my own gibson original marindae (pic above) and he did the rest. we had wine and beer and the like and what started out to be only 6 people snow balled into 14 (pic above). and i came up the fantastiv idea after talking to rasmus to plan a brief trip to kurdikstan(north iraq). im gonna absolutly do it and go to jerusalem too. other than that its aight over here. this place is true to the experession take one day at a time. i have 43 more ays till im only a plane back to the usa. well thats all thats really gone down here in the past few days so ill post again in a few....keep ya updated....

YOM KIPPUR!!

so its the morning of the 8 th over here and yom kippur is in full effect. me and 5 other guys from the hostel went out last night walking around talkin pics of the buildings

and the road just amazed that no cars what so ever where on the road. we walked for about a hour and a half and only saw 5 cars 3 of which were police. the pics above are one of the buildings i photographed and one of the roads we were walking on. and the other one is just random grafiti in hebrew with a portrait of hitler that i couldnt not take a photo of. were gonna hopefully go out today in a few hours and walk around in the day time which will be trippy. other than that its been cool over here in florentine. i keep meeting awesome people but there all for for at most 4 or 5 days so its hard to get to know em at all before they leave. works slow and booring but easy and i have a decent amount of responsobility so its cool. im almost 2 weeks in it and am counting the days till i leave. i mean i wanna go but i know i gotta stay cause i wont get anything like this in cali and i dont wanna have wasted all that man power and money so im here for till the biter end. well thats it for now ill kep ya updated...

5 days in it.

so here i am 5 days into my volunteership at florentine hostle. i gotta say though its alot harder mentally than i ever thought. i thought i was gonna show up and be no prob but its like alaska yet so different in so many ways. it sucks but just like alaska i gotta man up the first week or two is always the hardest and in true to that i can already tell its getting better but enough about that.ive meet fantastic people also there all really cool and im only 5 days in who knows who ill meet in 2 weeks. i got video the other day of the muslim call to prayer that is recited from the local mosque. i hear it about 4 times a day give or take and each and every time im mesmerized by it. i ll try to post the video. ive done a little bit so far but since im just getting comffy and its 100,000,000 degrees celcius that kinda hinders your exploring. i hopt to be going to jordan and egypt within the 2 months but that stuff takes money and who know if ill be able to bakroll that alos. plus israeli drivers are some of the most impatient people ever...its semi dangerous. well thats it for now ill try to post more pics. peace....
